The 2012 Primetime Emmys: The Recap

Sunday, September 23, all of favorite celebrities gathered to celebrate all things television at 64th annual Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, tinsel towns finest brought the awkward, funny, jaw-dropping and heart warming moments to the Nokia Theatre to pay honor to one of the best things in this industry; television.

The Host  Jimmy Kimmel brought his A game as host to this year’s festivities. The opening of the show gathered Emmy past hosts, Kathy Bates, Zooey Deschanel, Christina Hendricks, Lena Dunham, Ellen Degeneres and many more in a lady’s room preparing for the show. Later in the show he also wanted to honor himself while he was still alive with an “in memoriam” tribute to his work with Josh Groban doing a live rendition of One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful.” Kimmel kept the tone of the show funny and for the most part it ran smoothly.

The Stand Out Moments  Throughout the show there were many shocking, hilarious and most Twitter trended about moments from the show which included: Tracy Morgan passing out on the Emmy stage, Claire Danes using “holla” and “baby daddy” during her acceptance speech for Actress in a Drama Series, Jon Stewart wrestling Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert to the stage after winning his 10th Best Variety, Music or Comedy Series, and a “behind the scenes” look at “Modern Family.”

The Awards HBO was the top network of the night with 81 nominations. Dominating the comedy awards was ABC  hit comedy “Modern Family.” The show won for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, Direction in a Comedy Series, Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Comedy Series. Another show that won big was Showtime’s “Homeland.” That show wonWriting in a Drama Series, Directing in a Drama Series, Actor in a Drama Series, Actress in a Drama Series and Outstanding Drama Series. I mean Obama loves the show, so I’m glad the Emmy’s did as well.
