A few months back I posted about celebrities that have done amazing portrayals of some iconic people in Hollywood and beyond. After that post I continued to think about so many more celebs that have done this so well that I had to create another post dedicated to the memorable transformations; so here it is “Double Take: Part Deux.”
Denzel Washington as Malcolm X Is there any role Denzel Washington can not tackle; and tackle it extremely well I might add. Washington played controversial Black Nationalist leader Malcolm X in the 1992 biopic film “X” to a tee. These casting directors must have an art for picking out talent that really would do a film justice and that is just what the Academy Award actor did. Forcefully saying lines like: “The only thing I like integrated is my coffee” and “We didn’t land on Plymouth Rock. Plymouth Rock landed on us,” how could you ever forget such a great role as this from Washington.
Jamie Foxx as Ray Charles We all know Jamie Foxx is one of the few men that can tackle many genres of the entertainment business successfully. He can sing, act, host, produce and he’s funny as hell, but Foxx’s role in the biopic pic “Ray” really showcased his talent on a more serious level. Foxx transformed himself into the womanizing, blind man from the south who embarked on a rocky and yet successful music career. There are many stand out moments in this film but overall Foxx did an amazing job reliving Ray Charles on-screen.
Jennifer Lopez as Selena Quintanilla Perez I can’t believe I left out Jenny from the block from the first double take post I did. Lopez’s portrayal as the late Mexican-American singer was SO good you could barely tell the difference. The resemblance between the two is striking and this role really jump started Jenny’s career; not to mention the film “Selena” is still one of my favs and showed JLo has some pretty good acting chops.
Other runner-ups for the double take award go to Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning as Joan Jett and Cherie Curie in “The Runaways,” Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor in the upcoming biopic film about the deemed “most beautiful woman in the world,” and Andre 3000 for his remarkable resemblance to Jimi Hendrix in the upcoming film about his life.
