Two Television Famous Faces Pass Away

Sad news happened over the weekend. Two famous television faces have passed away, “Desperate Housewives” Kathryn Joosten and former “Family Feud” host Richard Dawson.

Kathryn Joosten, most recently noted for her wise cracking neighbor role as Karen McCluskey on “Desperate Housewives”, has died at the age of 72 from lung cancer. Joosten’s family confirmed that the Emmy award winner died on Saturday, June 2, in her home in Los Angeles.

Joosten also had a major role on “The West Wing” as the president’s secretary. Joosten got her acting career started late and small. She went from being a Disney street performer to having huge roles on major networks. Joosten was just happy to be living her dream. On her website she wrote, “Some people in Hollywood think of me as a model for dramatic midlife transitions: suburban housewife to Emmy-winning actress. But I never plotted a master plan for following my dreams.”

Richard Dawson will forever be known as the kissing former host of “Family Feud”. The death of Richard Dawson has been confirmed by his son Gary. On Saturday night, June 2, Dawson died from complications related to esophageal cancer at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Alongside being the charming host of “Family Feud” , Dawson can be remembered as the Cockney POW Cpl. Peter Newkirk on Hogan’s Heroes as well as being a frequent panelist on popular 70’s game show “Match Game.”

Both television faces will be missed! May they both rest in peace.
