Oh how I love award season. It’s the time of year when all of Hollywood comes together to honor, make fun and drink with one another; sounds like my kind of party. Although the Critics Choice Movie Awards isn’t thought to be one of the top, TOP award shows of the season; Thursday’s night (Jan. 12) show was pretty entertaining and gave awards to some very well deserving actors, actresses and films.
The 17th annual Critics Choice Movie Awards aired on VH1 and took place at the Hollywood Palladium. The night was full of fun and laughs with hots Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer. The film The Help won big that night. Viola Davis won for “Best Actress” and Octavia Spencer won for “Best Supporting Actress”. All the lovely ladies of the film as a whole won for “Best Acting Ensemble”. I was glad to see Bridemaids win for “Best Comedy” because that film was truly hilarious. I’m such a girl so I was very touched to see young actor Thomas Horn win for “Best Young Actor/Actress” for his role in Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.
I think it’s safe to say that death has never been this funny in the tribute to the loss of fictional movie characters in the past year during the show. Hosts of the night made light of the subject of death. Instead of honoring actual movie stars that have passed on in the past year they remembered the “day players” we lost from some of Hollywood’s major films of 2011. That clip in two words: F*cking hilarious!
What were the highlights of the program for you?
